Wood floor cleaning in Ventura

Maid VIP estimate: about $0.40–$0.80 per square foot

Services fulfilled by our affiliated service partner, Maid VIP.

Wood floor cleaning: the planks of a dining room, cleaned along the grain.

A wood floor cleaning deep-cleans the finish, not the wood under it. Grit comes up first, then a pH-neutral cleaner is scrubbed along the boards by machine or microfiber pad, and the dirty solution is picked up before the floor is dried. Engineered wood, laminate and vinyl plank are cleaned the same way. Sanding and refinishing are flooring work and aren’t part of it.

In a Ventura home

Ventura’s oldest houses are in the western and central parts of the city: the Westside’s worker cottages were mostly built between 1920 and 1930, and the blocks east of downtown hold Craftsman and period revival homes from the early 1900s. In a house that age, if you find wood under the carpet, have the finish checked before any liquid goes on it.

Wood floor cleaning: questions

What does wood floor cleaning cost in Ventura?

Typical national cost range, not a quote: $0.49–$0.61 per square foot; refinishing is separate flooring work. Maid VIP estimate: about $0.40–$0.80 per square foot. Nobody publishes a Ventura average; Maid VIP confirms the price before any work.

Can wood floors be steam cleaned?

No. Steam pushes heat and moisture into the wood and between the boards, which can damage the wood and its finish; the National Wood Flooring Association advises against it. A professional cleaning uses a pH-neutral cleaner and picks it back up.

Does the same cleaning work on laminate and vinyl plank?

Yes. Stanley Steemer, for one, cleans solid and engineered wood, laminate, vinyl and luxury vinyl, and linoleum with the same neutral-pH process. Whatever the surface, the cleaner shouldn’t leave standing water on it.

Is a cleaning the same as refinishing?

No. A cleaning lifts soil from the finish. Refinishing sands the floor and puts on a new finish, costs $3–$8 per square foot on Angi’s figures, and is flooring work that needs a Contractors State License Board license for jobs of $1,000 or more.
