The houses
The City’s 2024 survey records the Surety Park tract, subdivided in 1956 by the Surety Development Co., with houses of about 1,300 square feet and three bedrooms, built from 1957. Tracts like it fill much of the east side.
What floors here go through
A three-bedroom, 1,300-square-foot ranch has its bedrooms and a living room to price. At Maid VIP’s estimate of about $30 to $75 per room, with a $150 visit minimum, four rooms come to about $150 to $300. Tile here faces the hardest water in the city.
Worth knowing
Ventura Water’s 2026 report says groundwater mainly serves east and midtown Ventura, and its groundwater averaged 637 mg/L of hardness in 2025, ranging from 489 to 911: far harder than the 263 mg/L of the Lake Casitas water used in the west. That is what leaves the white film on east-side shower tile.

Why does shower tile in East Ventura get white film so fast?
The water is very hard. Ventura Water’s groundwater, which mainly serves the east side, averaged 637 mg/L of hardness in 2025. As it dries on tile it leaves calcium and magnesium behind, and grout soaks the minerals up.
