The houses
Montalvo’s residential neighborhoods were built after the Second World War, bounded by Victoria Avenue to the west, Ralston Street to the north, Johnson Drive to the east and the Ventura Freeway to the south. It was annexed into the City of Ventura in September 2012.
What floors here go through
Postwar houses of this kind usually have a few carpeted bedrooms and tile in the kitchen and baths. On the east side of the city, the tile meets Ventura’s hardest water, so grout cleaning and sealing are worth pricing with the carpet.
Worth knowing
Before 2012, Montalvo was unincorporated county land with its own services district; since the annexation the City has provided its services, including sewer billing for the properties in the old district.
